Jean-Luc Achard is a distinguished Tibetologist and researcher at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS, France), specializing in the history and doctrinal characteristics of the Dzogchen tradition within both Nyingma and Bön schools of Tibetan Buddhism. He is also the editor and publisher of the Revue d'Etudes Tibétaines. Achard has extensively studied and practiced Dzogchen, translating numerous Bönpo texts and focusing on the Seventeen Tantras and Nyingthig cycles of Nyingma, and various Dzogchen cycles of the Bon tradition, including the Zhang zhung snyan rgyüd. He authors The Instructions on the Primordial A, which details specific practices such as The Fifteen Sessions of Practice, Guru-yoga, Instructions without Characteristics, and Phowa Teachings.
