Jayadayal Goyandka

Jayadayal Goyandka (1885–1965), born in Churu, Rajasthan, co-founded Gita Press in Gorakhpur in 1923 with the aim of making sacred Hindu texts available in their purest form at accessible prices. A Marwari businessman turned religious publisher, he authored and compiled works on the Bhagavad Gita, devotional discourse, the glory of saints, and Hindu ethics, publishing them across Bengali, Gujarati, Odia, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, and other languages. Gita Press has since printed over 417 million books in 14 languages.
