Hardev Bahri (1907–2000) was a distinguished Indian linguist, literary critic, and lexicographer. He specialized in Hindi, Punjabi, and other Indo-Aryan languages, and is particularly noted for compiling numerous monolingual and bilingual dictionaries, often in collaboration with Rajpal and Sons. Bahri earned his Ph.D. from Panjab University and a D.Litt. from the University of Allahabad, where he served as a professor in the Hindi Department for over two decades. His works include the Advanced Learner's English–Hindi Dictionary and the Rajpal Concise English Hindi Dictionary, which are widely used reference tools.
