H.A. Jaschke

Heinrich August Jäschke (1817–1883) was a Moravian missionary and linguist from Saxony who spent years in Lahul, near Tibet, preparing for work in the region. His Tibetan Grammar, first published in 1865, was the earliest systematic account of Tibetan grammatical structure and remains a foundational reference in Tibetan linguistics. He also produced German-Tibetan and English-Tibetan lexicons.
