Govind Mishra

Govind Mishra (born 1939) is a prolific Indian novelist and a leading figure in Hindi literature, with over 53 books to his credit, including 11 novels, 14 short story collections, and several travelogues and literary essays. A former civil servant, he retired as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Direct Taxes in 1997. Mishra has received numerous prestigious literary awards, including the Vyas Samman (1998) for his novel Paanch Anangano Wala Ghar, which was later translated into English as The House With Five Courtyards. He also won the Sahitya Akademi Award (2008) for Kohre Mein Kaid Rang, the Saraswati Samman (2013) for Dhool Paudho Par, and the Bharat Bharti Samman (2011). His works include the short story collection Damn History (Collection of Short Stories) and the novel Colours Caught in Mist- A Novel.
