George Saunders

George Saunders writes satirical and darkly comic short fiction and novels that explore the absurdities of American life. He won the Man Booker Prize in 2017 for his debut novel Lincoln in the Bardo, and earlier received the Folio Prize for his story collection Tenth of December. A graduate of Syracuse University's MFA programme, he has taught creative writing there since 1996. His essay collection A Swim in a Pond in the Rain draws on that teaching to examine Russian short fiction and narrative craft.
