Mahamahopadhyay Chandrakanta Tarkalankar (1836-1910) was a distinguished Sanskrit scholar, poet, and critic from Bengal. He taught at Sanskrit College, Kolkata, and was a prominent member of the Asiatic Society of Calcutta. He was awarded the titles 'Tarkalankar' for his profound knowledge of Vedanta and 'Mahamahopadhyay' in 1887 during Queen Victoria's golden jubilee. Tarkalankar edited several significant works in the Asiatic Society's Bibliotheca Indica series, including `Parasara-Smrti`, and authored Sanskrit epics like `Satiparinayam` and philosophical texts such as `Tattvavali`. He also held progressive views, advocating for women's education.
