E V Ramakrishnan

E.V. Ramakrishnan is a bilingual writer, poet, and literary critic from Kerala, India, who publishes in both English and Malayalam. He has authored several volumes of poetry, including Being Elsewhere in Myself (1980), A Python in a Snake Park (1994), and Terms of Seeing: New and Selected Poems (2008). Ramakrishnan is also known for editing the seminal anthology of Indian poetry in translation, The Tree of Tongues (1999). He has received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Literary Criticism and the Odakkuzhal Award, and in 2023, he was honored with the Sahitya Akademi Award for his literary study Malayala Novelinte Deshakalangal. He served as a lecturer at Jalna, Maharashtra, and later joined the Department of English at South Gujarat University, Surat, where he is now an emeritus professor at the Central University of Gujarat. Among his edited works is Indian Short Stories (1900-2000), which has also been translated into Tamil as Indiya Chirukathaigal.
