Durgamohan Bhattacharya

Durgamohan Bhattacharyya (1899–1965) was a distinguished Indian Sanskrit scholar, professor, and Indologist known for his significant contributions to Vedic studies. He served as a professor of Sanskrit at Scottish Church College in Calcutta and later at the Sanskrit College. Bhattacharyya's research was particularly focused on the Paippalāda-Saṃhitā of the Atharvaveda, where his painstaking efforts in unearthing and editing rare manuscripts from Orissa and Bengal were hailed as an epoch-making discovery in the Indological world. He is the author of Chandogya Mantra Bhasya (A Pre-Sayana Commentary on Select Vedic Mantras), a critical edition of an early commentary on the Chandogya-brahmana, demonstrating his expertise in Vedic textual scholarship.
