Dr. Suryakant Tripathi

Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala' (1899–1961) is counted among the foremost Hindi poets of the Chhayavad period, writing poetry, fiction, and criticism. Billesur Bakariha is one of his significant prose works, narrating the struggles of a poor Brahmin navigating intra-caste rivalry and social hierarchy, rendered in the Baiswadi dialect of Hindi and saturated with Nirala's characteristic satiric voice. The work was published by Sahitya Akademi in English translation in 2012.
