Dr. Raghu Vira (1902–1963) was a pioneering Indian linguist, scholar of Sanskrit, and politician. Educated in India and Europe, he founded the International Academy of Indian Culture to foster the study of Asian languages and cultures. A member of the Constituent Assembly of India and later a Rajya Sabha MP, he was a key figure in the Jana Sangh, serving as its president. He is widely known for his monumental work in creating a standardized scientific and technical vocabulary for Hindi based on Sanskrit roots and for his extensive collection of manuscripts from across Asia. His son, Dr. Lokesh Chandra, continued his scholarly legacy.
