Dr. Kanakam Devaguptapu

Dr. Kanakam Devaguptapu retired as Head of the Department of English from Stenden University (Netherlands University, Qatar Campus) and has practiced Carnatic music on the veena for over five decades. In Varna Varnanam: An Exposition of Select Varnams, published by the Suryakala Foundation for Performing Arts (2019), she examines twenty-six tana, pada, cauka, and daru varnams spanning the seventeenth century to the present, presenting lyrics in their source languages alongside Sanskrit and English translations, notation, and scholarly commentary.
