Dr. Gyanendra Pandey (1943–2022) was an internationally acclaimed authority on Ayurveda, a research scholar, medicobotanist, medicine inventor, and professor who dedicated 55 years to studying, researching, practicing, and teaching Ayurveda. He held an Ayurvedacharya degree and multiple Master's degrees in Ayurveda and Indian Ancient History, Culture & Archaeology, alongside a PhD in Tibetan Medicine from Banaras Hindu University. Dr. Pandey authored over 75 books and 400 research papers in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English, with many of his works included in the curriculum of prestigious institutions. He served as Deputy Director (Ayurved) with the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) in the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. His contributions include "System of Plant Nomenclature in Ayurveda," "Traditional Medicine in South-East Asia and Indian Medical Science," "Foundation of Gerontology," "Kakacandisvarakalpatantra," and "Anticancer Herbal Drugs of India (With Special Reference to Ayurveda)."
