Dr. Abdul Haq

Maulvi Abdul Haq (1870–1961), known as Baba-e-Urdu or the Father of Urdu, was a linguist, scholar, and tireless promoter of the Urdu language across the Indian subcontinent. He reorganised the Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu, edited its journal Urdu for over three decades, and compiled authoritative lexical works including the English-Urdu Combined Dictionary published by Star Publications. He produced approximately fifty volumes of literature and scholarship devoted to Urdu's development and standardisation.
