Dom Moraes documents his early life — from a privileged but emotionally fraught childhood in Bombay to his years at Oxford in the 1950s — in this autobiography, first published in 1968. One of the most celebrated Indian English poets of the twentieth century, he won the Hawthornden Prize in 1958 at the age of twenty for his debut collection A Beginning, and went on to publish more than thirty books of prose and poetry over his lifetime. He lived from 1938 to 2004.
