Dinkar Joshi (born 1937) is a prolific Gujarati language author from India, recognized for his extensive contributions across various literary forms, including novels, short stories, essays, and columns. He has authored over 160 books, with many translated into Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and other languages. Joshi's works frequently explore social and spiritual themes, incorporating meticulous research on Indian epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana, as well as figures such as Lord Krishna and Mahatma Gandhi. Notable among his numerous publications are Mahabharat Ek Darshan (Gujarati), which presents a perspective on the epic, and Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum (Gujarati), a work on Lord Krishna. He also delves into devotional themes in Shri Krishana Nun Sarnam (Gujarati) and Shyam Ekvaar Avone Angane (Gujarati), while analyzing characters and narratives from the epics in books such as Mahabharatman Matruvandana (Gujarati), Mahabharat Pitr Vandana (Gujarati), and Ayodhyano Ravan Ane Lankana Ram (Gujarati). Joshi has also written biographical novels on figures like poet Narmad, Harilal Gandhi, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Rabindranath Tagore, Gautam Buddha, and Sardar Patel. His novel 'Mahatma vs. Gandhi' has been adapted into plays and films in various languages. He received the Sahitya Gaurav Puraskar in 2017.
