Chhanda Chatterjee is a Professor of History and former Director of the Centre for Guru Nanak Dev Studies at Visva Bharati, Santiniketan. Educated at Presidency College and Calcutta University, she was elected President of the Modern History Section at the Punjab History Conference in Patiala in 2006. Chatterjee's work, "Tagore and The Sikh Gurus (A Search for an Indigenous Modernity)," explores Rabindranath Tagore's engagement with the teachings of the Sikh Gurus and Bhagats of the Guru Granth Sahib to address challenges in Indian nationalism and identity.
