Charudev Shastri (1896–1987) was a distinguished Indian Sanskrit grammarian and scholar, often recognized as the "Modern Panini" for his profound reinterpretations of classical Sanskrit grammar. He authored over 30 works in Sanskrit, including influential texts on grammar like Vyakaranacandrodaya, and literary works such as Śrī Gāndhī Caritam, the first Sanskrit biography of Mahatma Gandhi in the 20th century. Shastri dedicated his life to education and social service, founding schools in Punjab to promote learning. His contributions include editions and commentaries on significant texts, such as श्रीनारदीयमहापुराणम् (The Narada Purana), published by Nag Prakashak.
