Cecilia Carvalho writes in Marathi and serves as Principal of St. Gonsalo Garcia College of Arts and Commerce in Vasai, Maharashtra. She is a recipient of several awards for her contributions to literature. Her monograph 'Fr. Thomas Stephans: Makers of Indian Literature,' published by Sahitya Akademi in 2017, examines the life and work of the English Jesuit priest Thomas Stephans (1549–1619), who lived in Goa for nearly four decades and produced landmark compositions in Marathi and Konkani, including the celebrated Khristapurana.
