Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay (1894–1950) was a renowned Bengali writer, best known for his poignant novels and short stories. His works often depict rural Bengal, humanistic values, and a deep appreciation for nature. He is the author of iconic works such as 'Pather Panchali', which was adapted into a celebrated film by Satyajit Ray. Among his notable works are चन्द्रमसः पर्वतः (The Mountain of the Moon), an adventure novel, 'Tales of The Natural And The Supernatural', a collection of stories, and 'Aranyak of the Forest', which explores the beauty and challenges of living in a forest.
