Bannanje Govindacharya

Bannanje Govindacharya (1936–2020) was a philosopher, Sanskrit scholar, and one of the foremost authorities on Madhva philosophy, known for his commentaries on the Vedas, Upanishads, and the Ramayana. He authored around 150 books and translated numerous Sanskrit texts into Kannada. Awarded the Padma Shri in 2009, he was a widely respected orator among Tulu and Kannada audiences. His Kannada work ಕಿಷ್ಕಿಂಧಾ ಕಂಡ (Kishkindha Kand), covering the Kishkindha canto of the Ramayana, is published by Ishavasya Pratishthana, Bengaluru.
