B. A. Viveka Rai

B.A. Viveka Rai (b. 1946) was Professor of Kannada Language and Literature at Mysore and Mangalore Universities for 34 years, and served as Vice-Chancellor of Kannada University, Hampi, and Karnataka State Open University, Mysore. A Handbook of Kannada Prosody, published by the Central University of Karnataka, is his first English-language introduction to the structure of Kannada metre, explaining the major metrical forms of classical and medieval Kannada poetry with definitions and illustrations grounded in Chandombudhi.
