Anil Kumar Boro

Anil Kumar Boro (born 1961) heads the Department of Folklore Studies at Gauhati University and is one of the foremost scholars of Bodo language, literature, and oral tradition. His A History of Bodo Literature, published by Sahitya Akademi in 2010 as part of its Histories of Literature series, surveys Bodo writing across genres from the Bibar-Alongbar era to the contemporary period. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2013 and the Padma Shri in 2025.
