Anand Ranganathan and Chitra Subramaniam

Anand Ranganathan is a Delhi-based scientist and novelist, educated at St Stephen's College, Delhi and Pembroke College, Cambridge, whose earlier novels include The Land of the Wilted Rose and For Love and Honour. Chitra Subramaniam is an award-winning investigative journalist, co-founder and Managing Editor of The News Minute, known for her reporting on the Bofors scandal. Together they wrote The Rat Eater, a crime novel in which a Mumbai politician's murder draws a detective into a web of caste, corruption, and deliberate misdirection.
