Akshar Bharati, together with co-authors Vineet Chaitanya and Rajeev Sangal of IIT Kanpur, examines how the grammatical system of the ancient Sanskrit grammarian Panini can be applied to the computational processing of modern Indian languages. Natural Language Processing: A Paninian Perspective, published by PHI Learning, also compares the Paninian Grammar framework with Western computational grammar approaches, and remains a reference work in Indian-language NLP.
