Abhinavagupta, the tenth-century Kashmiri philosopher and aesthetician, and Ramasaraka are the commentators on the ध्वन्यालोक (Dhvanyaloka of Sriananda Vardhan Acharya), published by Chaukhambha Sanskrit Sansthan. Abhinavagupta's commentary, the Locana, is celebrated for its sophisticated elaboration of dhvani — the theory of poetic suggestion — developed originally by Anandavardhana (c. 820–890 CE). His engagement with the Dhvanyaloka established him as a major theorist of Sanskrit literary aesthetics.
