A.N.D. Haksar (Aditya Narayan Dhairyasheel Haksar) is a distinguished translator of Sanskrit classics into English. A career diplomat, he served as the Indian ambassador to Portugal and Yugoslavia, and as High Commissioner to Kenya and the Seychelles, among other postings. After retiring from the Indian Foreign Service, he returned to the study of Sanskrit and has since translated numerous important texts, many for the first time into English. His works include Tales From The Panchatantra, Three Satires: From Ancient Kashmir, Shuka Saptati (Seventy Tales of The Parrot), and My Shameless Heart, a translation of the love lyrics of the Amaru Shatakam.
