श्री गणनाथ सेन (Shri Gananath Sen)

Kabiraj Gananath Sen (1877–1945) was a distinguished Bengali Ayurvedic physician, Sanskrit scholar, and teacher, born in Varanasi. He trained in both Ayurvedic and Western medicine, earning an LMS from Calcutta Medical College and an MA in Sanskrit from the University of Calcutta. Sen is celebrated for integrating traditional Ayurvedic principles with modern medical knowledge. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Faculty of Ayurveda at Banaras Hindu University, serving as its first dean, and founded the Vishwanath Ayurved Mahavidyalaya and Hospital in Kolkata in 1932. His influential textual contributions include प्रत्यक्षशारीरम् (Pratyaksha Shariram), a comprehensive work on human anatomy from an Ayurvedic perspective, which is presented in multiple volumes.
