चमू कृष्णशास्त्री (Chamu Krishna Shastri)

Chamu Krishna Shastri (born 1956) is an Indian educationist and Sanskrit language activist, widely recognized as a co-founder of Samskrita Bharati, an organization dedicated to the revival and promotion of Sanskrit as a contemporary spoken language. He is known for pioneering a communicative method of teaching Sanskrit, emphasizing practical conversation over traditional grammar-focused approaches. Shastri has served as the Trustee and Secretary of the Samskrit Promotion Foundation and was awarded the Padma Shri in 2017 for his contributions to literature and education. In 'सावधाना: स्याम' (Sāvadhanāḥ Syāma) and 'उत्तिष्ठत मा स्वप्त:' (Uttiṣṭhata Mā Svaptaḥ: Get Up! Don't Sleep!), both published by Samskrita Bharati, he offers materials ideal for Sanskrit reading practice, aligning with his mission to make the language accessible to a broader audience.
